Fall Gathering/Zoom Meet

The Harvard Club of Northeast Ohio is looking forward to hosting The Black Lives Matter presentation.
The question we will be addressing is:

“What Will It Take to Get Rid of Racism, the Harsh Reality and Is It a Public Health Issue?”

Speakers

David Boone, Harvard ’16

Is a technologist who co-founded What’s Next EDU, a Cleveland based firm developing a platform to significantly simplify finding, curating and delivering modern educational content in all learning environments. Prior to establishing his own business, David worked as a Data Scientist for Microsoft. During his time with the company, David led the data team on Microsoft’s Development Collective learning platform. The platform focused on content that was accessible for learners of all levels and partnered with organizations to bring the learning to non-traditional learners all around the world.

David’s team grew the platform to over 100,000 users.

 

While at Harvard, David was the chief technology officer for the Harvard Black Students Association and he co-founded the Harvard undergraduate robotic club.

 

Rashya Ghee, Law School University of Minnesota

Is a Trial Lawyer, Law Instructor and a political activist in Toledo, Ohio. Rashya works as a staff attorney for Advocating Opportunity where she makes racism visible in the anti-trafficking movement. Her scholarly expertise focuses on racial inequality. She currently has 5 publications and her works have been cited 17 times. In addition, Rashya teaches law in the following areas: Con Law, Criminal Law and Critical Race Theory.

 

Rashya was raised in Toledo, Ohio. She is a graduate of Toledo Central Catholic High School. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and her Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Toledo.

 

Wonuola Obasa, Harvard ‘23

While currently attending Harvard College, Wonuola Obasa is concentrating in History and Science. He is a Nigerian immigrant and he came with his family to Cleveland, Ohio when he was five years old. While at the college, Wonuola serves as the Community Liaison of the Nigerian Students Association and he is the analyst in the BLK Capital Management student investment club. Wonuola volunteers as a college application tutor for underserved students within two of the Boston high schools. Prior to attending Harvard College, Wonuola led an organization dedicated to improving financial literacy in his local high school in Cleveland, Ohio. Wonuola hopes to leverage his skills in organizations that seek to make an impact in public health on those who are vulnerable and underserved.

 

Terrence Upchurch, Political Science Degree from Cleveland State University

Is the Ohio House Representative for District 10 in Cleveland, Ohio. Terrence has served as a special assistant to the Cleveland City Council. He is a member of the Democratic Party and his biggest strengths are his ability to build relationships across party lines in order to advance key legislation. Currently Representative Upchurch serves on the following committees: Economic and Workforce Development, Health, Insurance, Public Utilities and Ways and Means. He was born and raised in the city of Cleveland and he attended St. Peter Chanel High School. In addition, Representative Upchurch is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Villanova.
